
Flooding leaves one of Dupont's only stores underwater as owners begin long recovery
Historic flooding in southern Avoyelles Parish has devastated Cooyons, a critical community store in Dupont near Plaucheville that has served the area for 16 years. The store, which provided gas, groceries, hot meals, and essential services to residents, is now underwater and facing significant losses. Owner Heather Cormier is beginning the long recovery process for the business and community.
